Meet Your
Photography Mentor:
Neyssa Lee

Photography mentor & Business coach

I am Neyssa Lee, a mother of six, who is running a thriving photography business. I'm planning obsessed and a master of helping others find organization in their businesses and lives so they can have success without the overwhelm.

* My name is pronounced "neigh-ssa" (rhymes with Mesa).

*Although I attended UW (go Huskies) and graduated with a degree in business, the last thing I thought I'd be doing when I "grew up" was running my own business.

*I married my high school sweet heart, Derek, and we have six children, two dogs, and four cats together. My house is loud, busy, chaotic, messy, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Okay, I would love if it were cleaner....

Growing my own photography business has changed my life and given me so much. It is because I know it's power that I'm passionate about helping other photographers reach their goals.

*There's nothing quite like ordering the next year's planner. Choosing cover designs, and a clean slate for a year full of new hopes, dreams and goals. It's like the start of a Disney movie.

*You'll find me drinking a vanilla soy latte or a black iced tea from Huxdotter Coffee. I drink both all year long, even on those cold and rainy Seattle days.

*I am loyal to the core. On the enneagram I’m a 6 and it often shows.

*I wanted to throw in the towel on my photography business often the early days. Between working part time, raising two young children, needing my business to grow and not having business I was struggling. Fortunately, I held out, found systems that worked for life as a busy mom. Over a decade later and I'm here running a thriving business with 6 kids. Don't give up, my friend. It's not you that's failing, it's your system.

*Parenthood is the most difficult thing a person can do. With six children ages 11 and under, I feel like I'm constantly failing. Yet, it is a job I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.

*My family loves adventures together. This could be a trip into Seattle for vegan donuts at Dough Joy or to the river to skip rocks.

*I'm a Disney Adult. (Yes' that's a thing.) IYKYK. If I'm not planning a trip there, I'm figuring out when my family (or just me) can go next. Should we do a photography mentoring trip to Disney soon?

Parenthood has shown me how, truly, childhood is so fleeting, that the job we do as photographers truly matters.
